Richard McKay

Richard S. McKay passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024, at age 87, surrounded by his loving family.Richard is survived by his dear sister, Brigid McKay, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret McKay, and brothers and sisters Mae Foss, Eleanor, (James) Redmond, Kitty McKay, Marguerite “Peg”, (Dr. James) Canavan, Ann, (Bill) Beilfuss, Bernadette L.(Steve) Gniadecki, and Jack, James, and George McKay. Richard graduated from St. Rita High School, attended Loyola University, and later graduated from Chicago Kent Law School. He was a long-time member of the Illinois Bar Association. Richard was proud of his legal practice, passionately celebrated his Irish heritage, honorably served his country as a Naval Reservist, and with his sister, opened his heart and home to rescue numerous dogs over many years. His family is grateful to the 3North Care Team at Plymouth Place, Dr. Anthony DeLorenzo, and the amazing private duty Caregivers from Avid Health.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, Sept 6, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church 8245 West 111th St. Palos Hills, IL., 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass 11:00 a.m.
